Equity and Power Journal (EPJ) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research on structural inequality, power dynamics, social justice, political economy, institutional oppression, and democratic liberation. Positioned as a premier critical social science scholarly forum, the journal serves political theorists, sociologists, critical legal scholars, feminist theorists, post-colonial analysts, human rights advocates, and social policy researchers worldwide. EPJ prioritizes rigorous empirical research, critical theoretical inquiries, intersectional analyses, qualitative field studies, and policy critiques that examine how power is institutionalized, contested, and redistributed across political, economic, and socio-cultural systems. By bridging critical theory with empirical social realities and grassroots advocacy, the journal fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how equitable structures can be designed to dismantle systemic marginalization and promote human liberation.

Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to critically analyze power structures and advance socio-economic and political equity, the journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic critical reviews, comparative political analyses, and empirical field studies within the following thematic areas:

Critical Theory & Intersectional Power Dynamics: Intersectional analyses of race, class, gender, sexuality, and disability; critical race theory; feminist political economy; and structural theories of power.

Political Economy, Wealth Disparity & Economic Justice: Income inequality dynamics, labor exploitation, neo-liberal policy critiques, corporate power governance, taxation justice, and wealth redistribution models.

Coloniality, Post-Colonial Studies & Global Imperialism: Decolonial methodologies, North-South power asymmetries, indigenous sovereignty, land rights, and global governance critiques.

Institutional Power, Criminal Justice & State Control: Critical legal studies, penal abolition, state surveillance dynamics, police power reform, judicial equity, and human rights enforcement.

Social Movements, Resistance & Democratic Liberation: Grassroots organizing frameworks, civil resistance strategies, civic empowerment, participatory democracy, and community-led policy transformation.

Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of critical social science research, EPJ is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on decolonial research methodologies, global wealth inequality, or digital resistance and surveillance power may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process
EPJ enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, theoretical depth, and methodological rigor across social science and humanities disciplines.

  • Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess critical alignment, theoretical depth, methodological soundness (qualitative field rigor, critical textual analysis, quantitative inequality modeling, or historical-comparative validity), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.
  • Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established academic experts or critical theorists in the relevant field.
  • Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on intellectual merit, critical/theoretical rigor, analytical clarity, and potential societal impact.

Mission Statement: "The mission of the Equity and Power Journal (EPJ) is to critique and challenge institutionalized power structures while advancing actionable pathways toward global equity, justice, and human liberation. Grounded in the philosophy that true scholarship must actively engage with and dismantle systemic oppression, the journal aims to democratize critical research by providing an unrestricted platform for global academic, activist, and policy dialogue. Through the promotion of diverse, rigorous qualitative, quantitative, and critical methodologies, EPJ seeks to empower marginalized communities, inspire social reformers, and shape future-proof, highly equitable socio-political paradigms worldwide."
