About the Journal

Governance, Society and Law (GSL) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research at the dynamic intersection of public governance, societal structures, legal frameworks, and institutional policy. Positioned as a premier interdisciplinary scholarly forum, the journal serves political scientists, socio-legal scholars, legal theorists, public administration specialists, criminologists, and policy strategists worldwide. GSL prioritizes rigorous empirical research, comparative legal studies, socio-legal field evaluations, policy impact analyses, and normative theoretical models that examine how legal architectures and administrative governance adapt to evolving societal needs. By bridging statutory law with social dynamics, regulatory compliance, and public sector management, the journal fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how transparent governance and equitable legal systems promote civic stability, democratic integrity, and sustainable social development.

Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to analyze the tripartite interplay between governance, legal institutions, and civil society, the journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic reviews, comparative legal analyses, and empirical socio-legal case studies within the following thematic areas:

Public Governance, Policy & Administrative Law: Regulatory reform, public sector management, anti-corruption frameworks, e-governance architectures, institutional transparency, and administrative accountability.

Socio-Legal Dynamics & Human Rights: Law and society interactions, civil liberties, legal empowerment of marginalized groups, human rights advocacy, and socio-economic justice frameworks.

Constitutionalism, Judicial Systems & Rule of Law: Judicial independence, constitutional reform, court administration, legal pluralism, and comparative constitutional law.

Criminal Justice, Criminology & Public Order: Penal policy reform, restorative justice, crime prevention strategies, law enforcement governance, and socio-legal perspectives on security.

Global Governance, International Law & Migration: Transnational legal frameworks, global policy institutions, international humanitarian law, refugee protection, and cross-border regulatory governance.

Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of legal, governance, and societal research, GSL is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on digital governance ethics, human rights in global crises, or judicial reforms in developing democracies may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process
GSL enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, legal accuracy, and methodological validity across legal, social science, and governance disciplines.

Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess thematic alignment, methodological soundness (doctrinal legal rigor, qualitative/quantitative socio-legal methodology, comparative analysis, or policy evaluation validity), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.

Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established academic scholars, legal experts, or senior policy researchers in the relevant domain.

Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on intellectual merit, theoretical/legal rigor, analytical clarity, and broader societal or policy impact.
