EduSpark: Journal of Creative Learning Systems (EJCLS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research on creative pedagogy, innovative learning environments, human-centric educational technologies, and adaptive instructional systems. Conceptually rooted in igniting dynamic learning experiences ("EduSpark"), the journal serves as a premier multidisciplinary educational scholarly forum for educators, instructional designers, educational technology developers, cognitive psychologists, and learning space architects worldwide. EJCLS prioritizes rigorous empirical research, innovative design-based research (DBR), gamified learning frameworks, creative thinking methodologies, and interactive media evaluations that examine how creative systems spark curiosity, critical thinking, and deep engagement. By bridging creative learning theories with cutting-edge instructional media and systemic educational design, the journal fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how creative paradigms optimize learning outcomes in the modern digital age.

Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to champion creative instructional design, adaptive educational systems, and innovative learning environments, the journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic literature reviews, design-based studies, and empirical educational evaluations within the following thematic areas:
  • Creative Pedagogy & Design-Based Learning: Creative problem-solving (CPS) frameworks, project-based learning (PBL), maker education, steam (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) integration, and inventive instructional strategies.
  • Interactive & Gamified Learning Systems: Educational game design, gamification mechanics, immersive learning environments (VR/AR/MR), interactive digital storytelling, and play-based learning systems.
  • Adaptive & Intelligent Educational Media: AI-driven personalized learning systems, intelligent tutoring systems (ITS), adaptive feedback mechanisms, and creative applications of generative AI in learning.
  • Learning Spaces & Collaborative Ecosystems: Physical and virtual learning environment design, co-creative learning spaces, collaborative online learning communities, and open educational resources (OER).
  • Cognitive Creativity & Learning Analytics: Assessment of creative thinking, computational creativity in education, learning analytics for creative processes, and neuro-cognitive insights into student engagement.

Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of creative learning research, EJCLS is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on generative AI in creative education, immersive VR learning ecosystems, or STEAM pedagogical innovations may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process
EJCLS enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, analytical objectivity, and methodological validity across educational and instructional design disciplines.

  • Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess thematic alignment, methodological soundness (quantitative experimental design, qualitative classroom observations, design-based research rigor, or mixed-methods studies), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.
  • Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established academic experts or senior researchers in creative pedagogy, educational technology, or instructional design.
  • Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on intellectual merit, theoretical rigor, empirical accuracy, and practical pedagogical impact.

Mission Statement: "The mission of EduSpark: Journal of Creative Learning Systems (EJCLS) is to ignite transformative learning experiences by fostering the creation, evaluation, and deployment of creative and highly engaging learning systems globally. Grounded in the philosophy that effective education must cultivate creativity, adaptability, and critical thinking, the journal aims to democratize advanced educational research by providing an unrestricted platform for global scholarly, academic, and instructional dialogue. Through the promotion of diverse, rigorous quantitative, qualitative, and design-based methodologies, EJCLS seeks to empower educators, inspire learning systems designers, and shape future-proof, creative, and student-centered educational paradigms worldwide."
